Maat Foundation participated in an interactive dialogue with the Independent Expert on Mali during the 49th session of the Human Rights Council. Maat Foundation highlighted the deteriorating security situation in Mali and its dire consequences. UN peacekeeping missions in Mali have been subjected to several attacks resulting in casualties. The most recent of these incidents was the killing of two Egyptian soldiers in Mali in early March 2022.

Maat then made the following recommendations: Activating the idea of establishing a fund to support victims of the political crisis, especially the vulnerable, marginalized, and displaced. She also called on all parties to provide all forms of technical support to the Mali Governing Council to strengthen the investigative mechanism to promote much-needed accountability in Mali at this time.
