Maat for Peace, Development, and Human Rights conducted a virtual training session titled "Citizen Journalism and Combating Misinformation," with the participation of 20 journalists and youth from several countries, including Egypt, Sudan, Libya, Yemen, and Palestine.

The training highlighted the importance of raising media awareness in combating misinformation, addressing mechanisms for detecting fake news, classifying misleading information, and responsible engagement with social media. It also employed innovative methods to enhance the participants' digital skills, contributing to reducing the spread of misinformation.

In this context, Marina Sami, Director of Media Unit at Maat and Training Coordinator, emphasized that Maat places great importance on raising awareness about the dangers of misinformation and ways to identify and address it. Sami pointed out the necessity for journalists to possess critical thinking skills and source verification to ensure the dissemination of facts and counter the phenomenon of media misinformation.

This training is part of Maat's action plan for the sustainability of the "Citizen Journalism Academy and Combating Misinformation" project, which aims to establish a culture of responsible media and enhance professional capabilities in confronting media misinformation.
