Commentary on the report of the Special Rapporteur on adequate housing on the results of her visit to Egypt
Submitted to: Human Rights Council, 40th Session
Concerning: Item 3: Report of the Special Rapporteur on adequate housing
Maat Foundation for Peace, Development and Human Rights (Egypt) presents this report to clarify her comment on the most important things in the report of the Special Rapporteur on adequate housing about the results of her visit to the Arab Republic of Egypt from September 24 to October 3, 2018, which is the first visit of a human rights expert at the United Nations to Egypt Since 2011.
Within the framework of the openness that Egypt is showing to cooperate with international human rights mechanisms and to get acquainted with international experiences in dealing with the challenges faced by countries to provide adequate housing, the Egyptian government invited Leilani Farha, the Special Rapporteur to visit her during the period from September 24 to October 3 of last year. All possible means have been provided for her to carry out her work, but the report issued by her has raised many reservations, despite her knowledge in her various meetings and visits on practical applications of government policies to provide adequate housing.
