The International Joint Mission of the International Network for Rights and Development, the International Institute for Peace, Justice, and Human Rights, and Maat for Peace, Development and Human Rights, the local partner concluded its preparations for following up the polling phase in the Egyptian presidential elections expected to begin tomorrow morning, Monday 26 May 2014 and ends on Tuesday 27 May 2014.

The mission finalized the distribution of the international observers teams including 124 international observer divided on 50 teams besides the officially approved translators to escort the delegations, and the central operations room of the joint mission. In addition to 2490 local observers and local operating room officials divided into 800 teams, as well as completion of the launch of the central operations room at Maat for Peace, Development and Human Rights.

The joint mission plans to visit about 65% of the polling stations in 25 governorates out of 27 governorates over the two voting days.

The mission's methodology regarding following up the polling phase is based on three integrated axes as follows; assessment of the political, community and security climate in which the process takes place; observing and documenting the progress of the voting process; and monitoring the voters evaluation of the voting process.

The mission will also work on the dissemination of periodic reports throughout the two polling days by 3 daily reports on different time periods, as well as ongoing communication with the operation rooms at the Presidential Elections Committee (PEC) and the National Council for Human Rights.

The observation mission is considered the largest among those who follow up the electoral process in Egypt, when it initiated its work in the early start of the electoral process in order to monitor accurately and fairly the electoral process, leading to a comprehensive assessment of the process based on the internationally recognized standards of freedom and fairness.

The central operations room and local operation rooms will receive statements and complaints from voters and officials of the election campaigns of candidates through the communication numbers stated in the table attached with this statement over the two polling days.

The joint mission looks forward to be a partner for the great Egyptian people to reach their legitimate goals and the demands of their inspiring revolution with its two waves on January 25th 2011 and June 30th 2013 in terms of the establishment of a decent democracy along with building the state institutions on a base of transparency, integrity, and freedom.
