Maat supports diplomatic solutions to Coptic issues abroad.
And it calls for an end to the Sinai Bedouins crisis, with the preservation of Sinai’s security and societal peace
Maat Center welcomes the holding of a meeting between the bishops of representatives of Pope Shenouda and the Egyptian Foreign Ministry and representatives of Coptic Orthodox organizations in Diaspora, which ended according to news of an agreement that these organizations will stop organizing demonstrations abroad condemning the conditions of Copts in Egypt, and stopping all forms of abuse and incitement against Egyptian policies.
The Center believes that raising any “Egyptian” issue outside the borders of the homeland is a matter of wide debate, especially if it is certain that it does not object to these discussions internally, and the Center considers what a large number of centers and human rights organizations inside Egypt have gained from a wide area of freedom to express Coptic issues Evidence of the possibility of discussing any crisis they have at home, especially with the regime's response to a number of demands, the most important of which is the issuance of a unified law to build places of worship in Egypt.
The Center draws attention to the keenness of all local organizations to discuss Coptic issues and search for real solutions to preserve stability and community peace. National human rights coalitions have emphasized the principle of equality among Egyptians, and national parties and movements have witnessed the consolidation of this principle, and we mention in this regard that the “Kifaya” movement is greater The emerging protest movements in Egypt included the militants George Ishak and Amin Iskandar as their coordinators, without the slightest sensitivity of any activist in any political direction.
The Center warns of renewed protests by the Sinai Bedouins due to the Ministry of Interior's lack of commitment to release the detainees of their children, and the continued keeping of a large number of them in detention centers without trials, against the background of successive bombings in Sinai, which were followed by security violations against the Egyptian Sinai residents, which were confirmed by human rights reports.
The Center, as a coordinator for the Egyptian Network for the Defense of Detainees, rejects the continued neglect of the implementation of judicial rulings issued in favor of any detainee by an administrative decision, and the mistreatment of him and his family inside and outside prisons and detention facilities that are subject to judicial inspection by the Public Prosecution and the Attorney General, and condemns the continued detention of the writer Al-Sinaawi, Musaad Abu Fagr Al-Mraba Among the security accusations of inciting the Bedouins against the government at the end of the past year, and calls for respecting repeated court rulings to release him.
The Center affirms that the continued suffering of the Sinai Bedouins from poor living conditions and neglecting to provide them with job opportunities contributes to increasing their crises with the government and threatens community peace in a sensitive border area, as long as the eastern side remains the historical weakness of Egypt's border security, and the center calls on the government to respect the will of the Sinai Bedouins in Emphasizing the sovereignty of their culture within their environment and respecting their traditions and identity inseparable from the Egyptian identity, at a time when security dealing alone is not suitable for the issue of border crises and ignoring the political solution to them.
