Maat Foundation participated in the panel discussion launched by the Working Group on Extractive Industries, the Environment and their Impact on Human Rights on the Continent. Maat recommended to the African Committee the need to prepare a study on ways to support African countries in translating climate action plans into investment plans, as 72% African countries currently lack such plans, which affects vulnerable groups, including migrants, indigenous communities, and people with disabilities. And children, Maat indicated that it is important that this study provides guidance on developing preventive measures that enable these countries to quickly recover from severe climate events.
