Terrorist Attacks in Somalia.. Maat Condemns Violations of the Right to Life and Security

Maat for Peace, Development and Human Rights monitors with concern the disturbing security situation in Somalia, especially the capital Mogadishu, especially in light of the quantitative and qualitative spread of the extremist youth movement throughout the country.
On Saturday, October 29, Maat monitored a new terrorist incident, when two car bombs exploded in front of the Ministry of Education in the capital, Mogadishu, in addition to an attack inside the ministry's campus, followed by heavy gunfire by extremist youth. That brutal incident, resulted in at least 100 deaths and 300 injuries, according to statements by Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud himself.
In this context, Maat for Peace, Development and Human Rights reiterates its urgent appeals to all international and regional mechanisms concerned with Somalia, to direct all means of technical support to combat terrorism and extremist ideology in the state, and to make all efforts to protect the right to life and personal security of civilians in Somalia.
