Maat Center followed with great concern the incidents of mutual violence between the Assiut prison guarding forces and the prison inmates inside and a number of citizens attacking it from abroad, and considered the statements of the Ministry of Interior and the accounts of eyewitnesses and the testimonies of prison inmates as evidence of the absence of order inside Egypt's prisons, despite What the Center witnessed and supported in its reports and a number of human rights organizations about reforming conditions in some prisons.

The newspapers reported that the family of prisoner Ali Muhammad Abd al-Salam confirmed that he was killed as a result of a link of torture that he received at the hands of prison officers and informants, and it also provokes anger and ridicule at the same time the ability of a family or two to cause terror to the guards of a public prison and close it to his guards in order to facilitate the escape of one of its members. Recently, riots have been repeated in a number of prisons and detention centers, the last of which is the Amiriya Police Department, in which the Ministry of Interior attributed the burning of the detention room inside it to a number of registered persons in danger, despite its statement confirming that the head of the investigations searched the detention and confiscated it that was prohibited, certainly not including ignition materials used by the perpetrators ?! In addition, death operations were repeated, attributed by security sources to various reasons, and the families of the victims confirmed the occurrence of torture, including the case of the prisoner, Mr. Rajab Abdullah, who watched the center for his death a year ago in Abu Zaabal high-security prison, and his mother obtained a death certificate confirming his death at the age of 45 years. While he was only 25 years old at the time, which puts question marks about how to investigate incidents of torture or death of prisoners, how prison doctors dealt with them, and the extent to which health care was provided to them to prevent them from contracting diseases that destroys youth in prisons.

Maat expresses his fear of the effect of Westernization operations or ill-treatment of prisoners on creating a state of hostility between them and their families and between Egyptian prison administrations, thus threatening the growth of opportunities for community peace and the success of the plans and programs of the Ministry of Interior and human rights organizations to reintegrate prisoners and their families into Egyptian society ..,

The Center calls on the Attorney General to activate his powers to "periodically" inspect prisons and detention centers, to investigate the facts of the Assiut prison and refer its results directly to the judiciary, and to expedite the forensic report on the death of the young prisoner Ali Muhammad Abdel Salam to give his family the opportunity to challenge him before his body is disintegrated. The Center calls on the Assistant Major General of the Minister of Interior for the Prisons Sector to allow him and a number of human rights organizations to meet with all parties to the juveniles inside the prison, and to issue a report on them in order to activate transparency inside Egyptian prisons.
