This week marked the International Day for Combating Hate Speech, one of the most prominent international days during which the world remembers the extremely dangerous effects of hate speech and reaffirms the collective stance rejecting it and working to combat and eliminate it at all national, regional, and global levels.
In light of the significant attention Maat for peace devotes to the issue of hate speech, and in a desire to deepen youth's understanding of the concept of hate speech and methods for combating it, Maat association held a virtual training course on Sunday, June 22, 2025, titled "The Art of Debating as a Means to Combat Hate Speech." The course was attended by a wide range of Egyptian university students. The training focused on providing an introductory introduction to hate speech, its motives, its most prominent contexts, and the extreme dangers it poses within society. It also highlighted the foundations of logical dialogue and ways to use debate as a means to combat hate speech. Participating university students were also encouraged to simulate real debates through practical applications included in the course.
