With the presence of (77) family of prisoners and detainees and the kind hearted families that varied from kids, youth and elders Muslims and Christians:
Maat Center for Juridical and Constitutional Studies developed in 27/5/2008 his first peace day in Menia governorate in the anchored ship "Mermaid", this is Maat's second peace day after the first one in Mansura governorate.
The peace days came within the activity of the community peace project implemented by Maat center in cooperation with USAID "The United State Agency for International Development". The project aims at integrating and rehabilitating the families of the prisoners and the detainees into the community and stressing the culture of religious tolerance, respecting the law and rejecting violence.
The day started at 9 am by receiving the families of the prisoners and the detainees and the kind hearted families in addition to Islamic apostle professor/Amal.. , sheik /Abdel Rahman ..And father/Poles..
They all participate the whole day in the activities along with a psychiatrist to solve the psychological and social and some lawyers to provide necessary legal advices in addition to representatives of a number of civil organizations concerned with the collective work with the families of the prisoners and detainees.
In the peace day the activities varied where the attendance was divided into three groups; elders, youth and kids, every group had their own program. The elders started with discussing work paper about the role of the civil organizations to support the families of the prisoners and detainees followed by another paper about the ways to control the wildness and the disobedience of their sons within these difficult circumstances; specially with a jailed or detained parent, in addition to a another paper about the rights of the prisoners and the detainees and their families, the religious tolerance, where the Islamic apostle, the sheik and the father were there in order to clarify the concept of cooperation and community peace in the Holly religions.
As for the youth group, they started with sessions where the psychiatrist listened and discussed their various problems providing them with the necessary advices, followed by some contests with simple prizes.
The kid's group listened to "Dodo's tale" a kid's book prepared by the center to tackle the different concepts such as friendship, religious tolerance, respecting the others and the role of the girl in the community's development and spreading the peace culture, rejecting violence and cooperation, then they started drawing, playing with the toys and watching cartoons. Participated in this peace day a lot of families Muslims and Christians, normal or suffering from the capture or the detention of one or more of their family members, which presented a true picture of the community peace, the harmony and the reintegration that the community peace project aim for.
