"Hand of mercy," the Clergy discusses the Situation of the Families of Prisoners and Detainees

Maat Foundation for Peace, Development and Human Rights held its first round table for the Muslim and Christian clergy entitled “the role of religious leaders in motivating communities to help the families of prisoners and detainees in the area of Dar el- Salam on Saturday, 26/5/2012”.
This meeting comes within the protection of integrated project activities to the families of prisoners and detainees for the integration and rehabilitation funded by the Foundation Drosos of Swiss and its objectives to provide direct aid and the mobilization of volunteer resources in the community and guidance to the families of prisoners.
The meeting was carried out by the attendance of 19 participants from Islamic and Christian religious leaders. The dialogue discussed the psychological and social problems experienced by family of a prisoner sentenced one of their parents and society's view of them and the problems arising from the marginalization of social and economic order. The subject addressed from the perspective of the Islamic and Christian religion and how to direct the religious discourse to have mercy among us to urge the community to support families of prisoners and detainees and their reintegration into society. The attendance contributed significantly in the expression of their views about what these families will offer from services and sermons and assistance to them.
The meeting resulted in the need for an awareness of the community guidance in how to embrace the families of prisoners and the provision of jobs and small businesses to the families of prisoners through the church service.
