Once again the UN system confirms its catastrophic failure in protecting human rights in the occupied Palestinian territories, and reveals the inability of its mechanisms and institutions to force the Israeli occupation brute force to respect the basic rights of millions of Palestinian civilians.
The organizations signing this statement strongly condemn the Israeli practices and the massacres perpetrated in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank over the past few days at the hands of the Israeli army and the settler groups, which led to dozens of dead and hundreds wounded so far.
The undersigned organizations confirm that Israel is practicing "collective punishment" against the Palestinians, in violation of all human rights standards and conventions and rules of international humanitarian law. It is sad that this is done amid the shameful silence of international powers, and flagrant complicity from some countries that claim to defend the human rights and public freedoms.
The bloodshed in the Gaza Strip every day is witnessing that "the conscience of the world" is in deep sleep, as evidencing that the logic of force and violence and extrajudicial killings is prevalent without finding the able "international force" to stop or change it, which threatens the world by waves of violence and terrorism that will reach everyone, as a result of a climate of despair and frustration of obtaining the legitimate rights of the Palestinian defenseless people.
The undersigned organizations confirm that "world peace" will continue to be threatened and trapped by the extremism and violence power as long as the UN system is unable to stop the Israeli roistering, and unable to force Israel to respect the UN resolutions and stop its flagrant violations to human rights.
The undersigned organizations calls the United Nations Human Rights Council and UN special rapporteur on the occupied Palestinian territories to convene an emergency session to take a UN stance urgently against Israeli practices, and to escalate the issue to the General Assembly of the United Nations and the Security Council to force Israel to stop its heinous war against the Gaza Strip.
The undersigned organizations call all international non-governmental organizations concerned with human rights to "respect" their moral obligations and to communicate with the major regional and international governments and powers and international public opinion to remove the international cover of the continued Israeli violations of Palestinian rights, and to reveal to the world public opinion the fact that the Israeli practices are opposing all human and civil values.
