Intervention on the report of the Special Rapporteur on combating terrorism

Submitted to: Human Rights Council, 40th Session.

Concerning: Item 3: Interactive Dialogue with the Special Rapporteur on the protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms in the context of combating terrorism (Resolution 3/31).

Maat Foundation for Peace, Development and Human Rights (Egypt) presents this report to clarify the dimensions of terrorism in affecting individuals and societies, and the negative effects of all kinds of terrorism on human rights and fundamental freedoms.

This coincides with the convening of the 40th session of the Human Rights Council, and as a response to the official visit that Ben Emerson made to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in 2017, in his capacity as the former Special Rapporteur on the promotion and protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms in the context of combating terrorism, in order to assess what the Kingdom has achieved Saudi Arabia has made progress in the field of its laws, policies and practices related to combating terrorism
