MAAT CENTER RECEIVES COMPLAINTS FROM SHUBRA EL KHEEMA DETAINEES' FAMILIES THE MINISTRY OF INTERIOR EXPELLED 43 OF THEIR RELATIVES TO EL WADY EL GADEED JAIL

Maat Center received many complaints from the families of Shubra El Kheema detainees, who were detained after El Azhar and Abdul Monem Riad explosions in April 2005, after which the State Security imprisoned 2500 persons who are still inside the jails. The majority of these detainees are from the elite youth, the university students and house holders , while the investigation bodies has brought only 14 persons before the trial which began actually few months ago.

The families assured that the administration of Damanhour public jail, in which stays the majority of the stricken district's prisoners who obtained many judgments of release, expelled 43 of their relatives to El Wady El Gadeed jail in spite of their deteriorated healthy state that makes them unable to endure the state of carelessness and neglecting their remedy or being imprisoned in individual punishment jails in which they suffer torture , especially inside the State Security headquarter in Shubra El Kheema to which they have to attend after obtaining judicial rules of release , as they are kept there by the Security men until other new administrative detention resolutions of release are issued. During this period, the Security men expose the families of the detainees to the most offensive treatment. The Network disclosed this treatment in its field statement that has been issued by the beginning of the previous month of Ramadan. In this statement, the women of the detainees, mothers and wives, admitted that they have been exposed to rape, torture and blackmailing by the State Security men in the head quarter. In addition, the Center observed the financial conditions and the deteriorated living status of the detainees' families under the absence of their relatives behind the bars with out any trials condemning them or accusations against them. The Center noticed that the conditions of these families make it so difficult for them to afford the costs of traveling to their relatives in Damanhour, then what about traveling to El Wady El Gadeed!

What actually arouses indignation the fact that such resolutions are issued against those who are detained with administrative laws, and the same has happened with many other detainees in El Giza Governorate such as the cases in Kerdasa that have been expelled to El Wady El Gadeed Jail under the pretext that they adopt 'Jihadi" thoughts without having any intentions to repentance.

Maat Center calls upon the parliament to supervise such resolutions and to interfere to put an end to such catastrophe which made Egypt losses its dignity, and which overthrew the future of the innocent victims against which there is no explicit accusation or judicial law that condemns them. The Center considers the fact that the Ministry of Interior still detains them, is violation of the sovereignty of the law, which might reach in some stages ' terrorism of a whole country'. The Center refused the continuation of the situation of these people and leaving their fates to be determined by the decisions of the Security men without the ability of any other body to revise or investigate such resolutions.
