The training provided a detailed explanation of the essence of international humanitarian law, its most prominent principles, and the history of its development, while clarifying the fundamental differences between it and international human rights law..

The training also reviewed the basic sources of international humanitarian law, primarily international treaties, such as the four Geneva Conventions of 1949, which prohibit the targeting of civilians and civilian objects during armed conflicts, in addition to agreements regulating the use of various means of warfare.
