On the sidelines of its participation in the activities of the 52nd Session of the Human Rights Council, Maat for Peace comments on the Netherlands UPR, under Item6, that Maat for Peace, expresses its deep concern about the Netherlands’ receiving many recommendations during its submission UPR mechanism, which show the state lack of commitment to implementing those recommendations. The Netherlands received 255 recommendations on the violations that are still being committed by the concerned country, topped by those committed against refugees, and migrants.
In light of the continuation of these violations, Maat recommends the need to comply with international human rights standards in treating refugees without discrimination on the basis of nationality; open new centers for receiving refugees fully equipped with basic needs.
