Maat Foundation for Peace, Development and Human Rights, in partnership with the International Consulting Group for Training and Law and the Taazur Association for Victims, organized a virtual training workshop on September 23, 2024, entitled “Principles and Rules of International Humanitarian Law and Documentation of Human Rights Violations.”
The workshop focused on enhancing Syrian civil society organizations’ knowledge of the skills needed to understand and document human rights violations in accordance with international humanitarian law.
During the workshop, participants were provided with comprehensive insights into the principles, rules and sources of international humanitarian law, as well as practical guidance on documenting serious violations of these laws during armed conflicts.
The training workshop also covered topics such as the distinction between international and non-international armed conflicts, and the protection of civilians and civilian objects.
It is worth noting that this workshop is a valuable opportunity for Syrian civil society organizations to enhance their capacity to address the humanitarian crisis in their region. By understanding and documenting human rights violations, these organizations can play a crucial role in advocating for justice and accountability.
