Maat Foundation held the Fourth Training Workshop for Social Workers and Psychologists Focus on the acquisition of Skills and Practical Cases is most prominent Features of the Training

Maat Foundation for peace, Development and Human Rights held the fourth workshop for the training of social workers and psychologists on July 11-12, 2012 in cooperation with Ishraqa a new society Association in Imbaba area.

This was a part of a series of trainings that seek to raise the capabilities of a number (120) of social workers and psychologists in schools and family courts and social affairs and the prisons’ Department and NGOs in six districts of Cairo and Giza.
It is worth mentioning that this workshop comes in the context of implementation of project activities of integrated protection for the families of prisoners and detainees, "the integration and rehabilitation", which is implemented by Maat Foundation funded by the Swiss Foundation "Drosos" and seeks to improve the economic and social conditions for families of prisoners and detainees through a set of interrelated activities.

In the workshop that included six training sessions, a large group of social workers and psychologists participated from Bulaq El-Dakrur and Imbaba districts of Giza. The training included theoretical lectures followed by dividing the participants to working groups. Training included a presentation of practical cases and put participants in situations that require them to apply what they have learned to be assured of what they absorbed of material science.
Among the practical cases that participants succeeded in developing a plan for social and psychological interventions with them through the work of groups was the problem of children associated with the jailed father or the breadwinner of the family, problems related with disorders and mental illness in the family, social problems caused by poor economic conditions (poverty, unemployment and lack of potential), and the ethical problems and distractions.

The training focused through its various components to give participants the skills of conflict resolution and design appropriate interactions, counseling and follow-up cases, so that they can apply these skills effectively in their official institutions (schools - Units of Social Affairs - NGO), as well as the application of these skills in the support units and advice of the project, which will begin its work in next September.
