Maat conducted the 3rd training workshop for psychologists and social workers at Al Basateen and Dar Al Salam

Maat for Peace, Development and Human Rights held the 3rd training workshop for psychologists and social workers at Al Basateen and Dar Al Salam on 8/9 of July 2012, within the framework of its training programme seeking to rehabilitate 120 psychologists and social workers at schools, family courts, social affairs, social sector, prisons sector and NGOs in six districts in Cairo and Giza.

It is worth mentioning that this workshop comes in the context of implementation of project activities of integrated protection for the families of prisoners and detainees, "the integration and rehabilitation", which is implemented by Maat Foundation funded by the Swiss Foundation "Drosos" and seeks to improve the economic and social conditions for families of prisoners and detainees through a set of interrelated activities.
It is worth mentioning that the training workshop series are some of the activities of the integrated protection for prisoners families’ "Integration and Rehabilitation" implemented by Maat foundation and funded by the Swiss foundation DROSOS, it seeks to improve access of prisoners families to their economic and social rights through a group of interconnected activities. The workshop hosted 20 members of the working psychologists and social workers in Al Basateen and Dar Al Salam regions and tackled a number of issues including “the importance of providing social care for prisoners and their families, the impact of having a prisoner parent in the family, the social care role in resolving family disputes along with providing counseling for the prisoners families, mechanisms to resolve family disputes, mechanisms of social and psychological family counseling”. The training aimed to enable the participants to handle these issues along with different professional overlaps in order to be able to set resolution mechanisms through focusing on practical cases, group work and brainstorming.

The trained psychologists and social workers would be running the free psychological and social units that would be established by Maat for Peace, Development and Human Rights, as well as, the headquarters of Ishraka Association, New Society starting next September.
