Maat held the second meeting for facilitation committee for the integration and rehabilitation project Facilities and new opportunities to the families of prisoners and detainees in the targeted areas

Supporting social institutions and natural leaders plays a pivotal role in the success of the development intervention activities that target the poorest and most marginalized categories . In this context On Thursday, October 11, 2012 Maat Foundation for Peace, Development and Human Rights held the second meeting for the members of Facilitation Committee on a project for integrated protection for the families of prisoners and detainees (integration and rehabilitation), that funded by the Swiss Drosos organization
It is worth mentioning that the Integrated protection project for the families of prisoners and detainees is seeking to improve the access of families of prisoners and detainees of their economic and social rights through improving their economic status in the targeted areas. In addition , provide mechanisms to improve the educational situation for their children and enable them to integrate into the community. Moreover, provide mechanisms to resolve family disputes and provide social counseling and legal assistance to them .
The Facilitation Committee that composed of the leaders of government agencies responsible for providing services to the families of prisoners and detainees, led by the Prison Service, Interior Ministry, Directorate of Social Affairs, Directorate of Youth and Sports, education departments in the targeted areas, as well as a number of civil work and natural leaders .
The committee discussed the achievements of the project from its starting day until now (March till September 2012 )as well as the problems that the project faced in dealing with some government agencies, such as the slowness of some administrative procedures and coordination difficulties, however meeting reached some recommendations and actions that can overcome these problems.
It was agreed to hold a meeting coordinated by the Media and Relations Department of the Interior Ministry to coordinate with the aftercare Department .Also agreed to communicate with the Ministry of Education to find out the reasons for delay in approvals regarding the cooperation between Maat and departments of the Education ministry in the targeted areas.
It was also agreed that the Directorate of Social Affairs will accelerate the extract process for the necessary paperwork to make the children of the targeted families get the educational aid easily , and that should be completed within 48 hours of the application submission date and on the condition that the application is accompanied by a letter from Maat .
It was also agreed during the meeting that youth center departments in the targeted areas will facilitate membership for youth of the targeted groups.
