Maat puts a smile on the faces of the children of the prisoners and detainees

Entertainment and socializing are considered two of the society's most important aspects and could mostly contribute in achieving harmony and acceptance within the society along with building bridges of communication, spread the spirit of participation and promote society consolidation.

In this framework, Maat Foundation for Peace, Development and Human Rights promotes the social peace file and seeks the reintegration and rehabilitation of the families of the prisoners and detainees, this comes in the framework of Maat implementation of the integrated protection project seeking to decrease the migration and isolation of the families of the prisoners and detainees within their surrounding community in an attempt to reintegrate them in the community along with improving prisoners' families access to their political and economic rights in the targeted areas of (Helwan – El Basateen – El Khalifa – Atfeeh – Imbaba – Boulak) through providing educational services from; (tuitions – uniforms – tutoring – trips and camps) for the children of the prisoners and detainees along with free craft training including (sewing – accessory crafting), in addition to providing social counseling and legal assistant along with helping these families out with the pension procedures.

It is worth mentioning that the project is funded by the Swiss foundation "DROSOS", working in Egypt since 2008. The established foundation in 2003, based in Zurich is committed to enable people in difficult situations to live life of dignity, and every individual to bear the responsibility for himself, for others, and for the environment. Based on that, Maat foundation aimed to eliminate the isolation and rejection on the side of the society to the children of the target group. Maat accompanied the children of the prisoners and detainees from the students along with other regular school kids from Imbaba region in a leisure trip to "Fajnoun Village" of Mariouteya to promote dialogue, communication, integration and interaction between both the children of the target group and regular families. It is worth noting that this project is funded by the Swiss “DROSOS” Foundation, which has been operating in Egypt since 2008, as Drosos has sought since its establishment in Zurich in 2003 to enable people in difficult situations across the world to live with dignity, and to assume responsibility for themselves and their communities. From this standpoint, Maat sought, through the project, to get the children of the target group out of a state of isolation and rejection from the community. Today's program included

1. Workshops and working groups for the children with professional speakers and with the participation of social workers to promote the concepts of acceptance of the other, dialogue and coexistence between different society groups from the children of the prisoners and detainees and other regular children.

2. Handicraft for the children in the village including painting, sculpture and pottery inscription under the supervision of specialists, which encouraged team working, participation and the significance of their activities when their work was printed on handmade bags with each child's name on them along with their handmade products.

3. Recreational games, contests and gifts for the children.
