Media and civil society organizations are the basic guarantees to protect human rights
In the context of "Promoting Media Professionals' capacity on Media Coverage for the UPR", MAAT for Peace, Development and Human Rights started the second media professionals training workshop for Upper Egypt governorates.
The training program targets 100 media professionals working on relative issues to human rights from the 27 governorates via 8 training workshops on two days basis during 2016-2017.
The training program targets 100 media professionals working on issues related to human rights from all governorates of the Republic, through 8 training workshops divided into two stages during 2016-2017.
The training program seeks to acquire media professionals the needed knowledge and skills to enable them to understand the human rights protection mechanisms system in general, and the UPR mechanism in particular, in addition to acquiring them the necessary knowledge in relation to improving public policy on the basis of human rights criteria and the state's UPR commitments, and the adequate skills to implement media campaigns, writing media reports linked to monitoring and following the recommendations implementation.
The project, which started in January 2016, seeks to strengthen the role of the Universal Periodic Review to enhance public policies and reforming human rights during the transitional period in Egypt through the involvement of civil society organizations, activists and media figures effectively in the follow-up and call for the essential reform of the Human Rights, also adopting new policies in line with international human rights standards based on the Universal Periodic Review in 2014.
