Maat commented on the universal periodic review of the United Kingdom under Item Six

During its participation in the work of the 52nd session of the Human Rights Council, Maat commented on the universal periodic review of the United Kingdom under Item Six, as Maat followed the recommendations addressed to the United Kingdom in the framework of promoting human rights, and Maat feels sorry as a result of the United Kingdom’s continuous neglect of many of the recommendations concerned with accepting international standards; Such as the ratification of the International Convention on Enforced Disappearance and the International Convention on the Protection of the Rights of All Migrant Workers and Members of Their Families, and this is evident in its institutional practices that violate the right of migrant workers and access to basic services and make them vulnerable to exploitation; As well as imposing exorbitant recruitment fees, inadequate housing, and ill-treatment.
In this regard, Maat for Peace recommends the need to consider ratifying international agreements and applying the articles contained therein within national practices, as well as accepting the recommendation to raise the criminal age of a child and including it in comprehensive credit programs.
