Maat gave an oral intervention on the impact of development projects on indigenous rights in # Ethiopia.

In light of its participation in the 77th session of the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights, Maat made an oral intervention on the impact of development projects on the rights of indigenous peoples in #Ethiopia; The intervention addressed the humanitarian crisis facing the indigenous tribes in Ethiopia. This came as a comment on the report of the Chairman of the Working Group on Indigenous Populations and Minorities, during the work of the 77th session of the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights in the city of #arocha # Tanzania. During the intervention, the Maat Foundation expressed its concern about what might lead to death from starvation as a result of the devastating impact of the development projects undertaken by the Ethiopian government to develop the region. Maat recommended that the Ethiopian government repair the infrastructure of the areas where indigenous people live, so that their right to clean water, adequate health services, and educational services are protected and enhanced.
