Strangers on the Margin of Society The Release of the First Day for Peace in Alexandria Governorate

Maat center for Judicial and Constitutional Studies held the activities of the first day for peace in Alexandria, on Sunday6\7\2008 in Alsaraia hall in Alagamy Albetach, in the frame work of Social Peace Project that aimed at rejoin families of prisoners and detainees in society. The center implements the project with cooperation of American agency for International Development (USAID).
The activities were attended by a big group of normal families and families of detainees and prisoners with were about 57 members beside lecturers and managers.
A social expert delivered a lecture about how to control sons' disobediences under hard conditions. She explained that hard conditions is a problem confronted by many families not only families of detainees and prisoners, because a lot of families face problems like its sustainer death or his illness or they may face a severe economic shock like losing their money source. Thus, no one is completely comfortable and man has to accept his conditions and to try to repair it without surrender. She also confirmed that understanding and discussion between sons and their masters is the real guarantee to protect family's unity in the front of any shocks or problems what ever it is.
There was a lecture about civil associations' role in protecting families of prisoners and detainees. The lecture asserted that sons of those families need protection just like orphans and that completing their papers is important to enable them to gain theirs financial, technical, medical, psychological, and educational aid.
In addition, there was a lecture about rights and freedoms in the Egyptian society with special focus on rights of families of detainees and prisoners. The lecture asserted that those families' ignorance about their rights and their relatives' rights in prisoners and detention camps is the main cause of their abnormal hard conditions.
Then a session was held to tackled the rights of prisoners' sons and detainees' sons to benefit from school exemptions, it offered an important group of information about how families of detainees and prisoners can benefit from different services and exemptions offered by The Ministry of Education. On the respect of the religious discussion session, the Islamic propagandist asserted that punishing the guilty one is a protection for society, hard experiences is a test from Allah, and that when Allah loves someone he examines him and if the man accepts and be patient so Allah forgives him for his previous sins and raises him many degrees. He asserted that Muslim society should not allow one of its classes to be forgotten and neglected and to let its people live as strangers on the margin of society because the Muslim is a helper for Muslim and Christian and that every good person has a brother to protect him and tack care of him.
