On March 5, 2025, Maat for Peace, Development and Human Rights, in cooperation with the Independent Commission for Human Rights in North Africa, the Sahrawi NGO Alliance, and the Sahara Observatory for Economic and Social Development, organized a Side Event on "The Right of Return: Pathway to Justice for Refugees".
The event addressed the need to implement the right to development for refugees in Tindouf and the right to return to their homeland, and the Palestinians between the displacement and reconstruction plan.
In his speech, Okeil spoke about rejecting the displacement plan and its violation of international law and the Geneva Conventions. Okeil also stressed that displacement attempts have been ongoing since the 1948 war.
He added that the solution is to re-implement and implement the Arab plan unanimously adopted by the Arab League on March 4, 2025.At the end of his speech, Okeil addressed a set of recommendations and messages to the Security Council, Arab countries, and countries that export weapons to the occupation authority, and called on donors and the international community to support the Arab reconstruction plan.
He also addressed a message to the occupation authority to stop the siege of Gaza and commit to the ceasefire.
