Two new discussion sessions for the citizen’s voice, the buildings violating the subordination of the 6th of October governorate, the biggest problems of Kotsika and Ayat

The revolution of January 25, 2011 not only succeeded in overthrowing the political system, but it also brought down the mountains of fear and despair that had accumulated in the souls of Egyptian citizens, and it stood an obstacle between them and their participation in managing public affairs and silenced them for many years from the serious demand for their legitimate rights until these rights were lost after the demands were recused from Landscape background. This fact was evident and evident in the two discussion sessions that Maat Foundation held simultaneously on Wednesday, March 23, 2011, in the governorates of Helwan and October 6, where the first session was held in the Kotsika region of Helwan, and the second in the Al-Ayyat center of the October 6 governorate, where he participated in the two seminars more From one hundred residents of the two areas, the discussion sessions come in the context of the activities of the Citizen's Voice (2) project implemented by Maat Foundation for Peace, Development and Human Rights with funding from the Future Foundation, which seeks to build the capacities of different community parties in dealing with decentralization, and the development of effective and innovative mechanisms to monitor the needs of citizens And assessing the quality of public services provided by the executive authorities, and the project will also work to spread the culture of decentralization in the Egyptian society and the effective employment of local and mass media in support of decentralization and monitoring the needs of citizens. The seminars are one of the components of the program to raise citizens' awareness of decentralization in six governorates, which aims to reach in the field. To about ten thousand citizens through public discussion panels and simplified guidebooks, to Jan B An unlimited number of internet users through the Citizen Voice program, which is broadcast on the electronic Radio Maat Radio, and the electronic citizen's voice magazine, which is published monthly. The seminars are an important means of identifying the state of economic and social rights in the targeted areas by enabling citizens to present these problems, discuss their dimensions and propose appropriate solutions to them, thus enabling the project team to prepare systematic reports and statements on these problems for the concerned authorities. The seminar in Kotsica came out with a set of problems that the region suffers from, the most important of which is the spread of the phenomenon of illegal construction, as many owners of residential buildings and owners of some lands deliberately constructed and elevated floors in violation of or build on lands without obtaining permits, and even cut off parts of public streets and annex them to their buildings, as well as Residents raised the problem of high water bills and arbitrary appreciation by the Greater Cairo Water Company, in addition to the problem of garbage accumulation, which has become an unresolved problem in Helwan Governorate. As for the discussion session held in Ayat, the participants raised two main problems, the first of which is the problem of transportation to and from the capital of the governorate and major cities, a problem that has been raised more than once during the past two years and officials have not succeeded in solving it. And despite the passage of nearly three years since the center of Al-Ayyat was separated from the governorate of Giza, citizens see that their conditions under the subordination of 6th of October Governorate have changed for the worse.
