The rights of migrant workers in Libya

Foundation progress Maat for Peace, Development and Human Rights (Egypt) (Egypt) This report is in the context of its interest in promoting respect for human rights in the Arab region, especially with regard to migrant workers, and this report deals with the rights of migrant workers in the State of Libya, in conjunction with the convening of the Committee on the Rights of Migrant Workers during its 30th session of the Convention on the Rights of All Workers Migrants and their families for the year 1990, which will be held from April 1 to April 12, 2019, and Libya had ratified this convention in 2004, and this report shows the extent of Libya's violation of many articles of the convention and acts of violence and arbitrary detention of migrant workers in Libyan prisons, and among these violations Migration across the Mediterranean, in which thousands of migrant workers die by drowning, without the slightest protection from state parties, but migrant workers are sold for a sum of money and so are all parties to the conflict in Libya.
