Maat Foundation report regarding the State of Iraq undergoing the UPR process

Foundation progress , Maat for Peace, Development, and Human Rights (Egypt) This report is to clarify and track the human rights situation in Iraq, and to monitor the most important changes related to it. Iraq has witnessed many changes, both in terms of fighting the Islamic State "ISIS", which continued military operations against it until the end of 2018, and the Iraqi authorities committed many human rights violations, and used collective punishment with justification for security measures, and the subsequent deterioration of the humanitarian situation. This is in addition to the interference of external parties such as Iran in Iraqi internal affairs.

In this report, the events and developments that have occurred in the human rights situation in Iraq will be shed light on, after submitting its second report to the United Nations Human Rights Council within the framework of what is known as the universal periodic review mechanism adopted by the United Nations.

Where the Maat Foundation analyzed the documents and results of Iraq's submission to the universal periodic review at its second session in October 2014, and compiled and classified available information on the human rights situation therein, and the steps it took regarding the implementation of the recommendations, as it submitted to Iraq 229 recommendations and approved 175 recommendations and took note of 54 recommendation.
