Maat Foundation for Peace, Development and Human Rights comments on the interactive dialogue with the Special Rapporteur on the independence of judges and lawyers.

Maat calls on the Special Rapporteur to use his mandate to pressure the Qatari authorities to overturn the unjust sentences against lawyers Hazza and Rashid Abu Sharida, request a state visit to Qatar, and allow the Qatari government to visit all prisons and meet with lawyers arbitrarily detained in protest against discriminatory election laws.
