On the sidelines of its participation in the 52nd session of the Human Rights Council, Maat Foundation for Peace, Development and Human Rights comments on the interactive dialogue with the Special Rapporteur on freedom of religion or belief.
The promise contained in Article 28 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, as stated in its implementation, will only be fulfilled by guaranteeing freedom of religion and belief for religious minorities and immigrants in Europe, especially in light of the increasing incidence of hate speech against these minorities and the growing phenomenon of neo-Nazis and far-right parties, particularly in Europe.
Maat recommends that the Special Rapporteur devote part of her next report to the issue of hatred against religious minorities in Europe.
