Statement No. 2

Maat Foundation for Peace and Development started, from six in the morning, the follow-up operations of the Egyptian elections, by publishing its delegates in the governorates of Cairo, Alexandria and Luxor. Our delegates followed the electoral process in Cairo in the areas of the coast, Rawd al-Farag, al-Matareya, Ain Shams, Downtown, Helwan and Maadi regions. Most of the committees, including those that were not opened until the eleventh hour and half, and everyone praised the role of the army in maintaining security and order in cooperation with the police, whose role was limited to external security of the committees and organizing the entry and exit process without interfering with the electoral process, but the unjustified delay by the judges led to Clashes occurred between supporters of the candidates and voters. It was also striking that most ballot forms were not stamped, which made people reluctant to vote and close Committees No. 40 and 41, and the judge supervising the Frere School Committee closed the committees in protest to the failure to seal the ballot papers and informed the Field Marshal of this. In the same context, our representatives following the electoral process in Maadi noticed that the ballot papers did not reach the committee until 10 a.m. in Committee No. 139, and the ballot papers did not reach the committee No. 239 at Ammar Ibn Yasser School and also Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq schools in Ain Shams. The judge closed Committee No. 147 in Waili to open it before his arrival and the employees opened the door for voting, and several committees were joined to some of them. In the position of Musharraf of the army, the army forces arrested a group of thugs in Helwan area who were trying to provoke riots to influence the electoral process. In a clear violation, the Freedom and Justice Party distributed their propaganda before the committees and set up propaganda booths for them in front of the polling stations. The scene in Alexandria did not differ greatly from the supporters of the Islamic movement on the polling stations in the various regions. There were no problems except for the continuous delay and the Freedom and Justice Party distributing its propaganda also inside the committees and trying to influence the voters through direct propaganda of the candidates' representatives before the polling stations without preventing them from The security services for this matter or the demolition of their propaganda booths in front of the committees and in Committee No. 560 Port Said Elementary the judge started the voting process without opening the minutes of the beginning of the committee, which raised the objection of the candidates representatives to that. Some candidates also objected to changing their numbers inside the ballot papers and went to the Attorney General, on top of the Revolution Egypt Party list, and he did not listen to them and asked them to inform the President of the General Committee in Alexandria and when they went to him, he told them that you should go to the head of the Supreme Judicial Committee for Elections in Cairo. In Luxor, the same was the case with a delay in opening the committees as a result of the delay of judges or ballot forms. However, matters there proceeded very quietly amid a high turnout, especially from the Copts and the poor, for fear of the fine.
