After the Covid-19 pandemic ... the implementation of the Free Trade Agreement in Africa must be accelerated

After the economic fallout of # Covid_19; Which reached $ 79 billion in # Africa in 2020 alone, it has become necessary to accelerate the implementation of the Free Trade Agreement between African countries, as it represents great opportunities for countries to enhance their growth, reduce poverty, and expand economic inclusion.

If fully implemented, the trade agreement could boost regional income by 7% (i.e. $ 450 billion), contribute to lifting nearly 68 million people out of #-extreme poverty, and support regional trade and value chains by reducing trade costs.

It is also expected to reshape markets and economies across the region, which will lead to the creation of new industries and the expansion of key sectors. In the long term, the agreement will provide a pathway for complementary reforms and growth # for African countries.

The Maat Foundation for Peace, Development and Human Rights calls for the need to exploit the Covid 19 pandemic obstructing sustainable development in the African continent, in order to be a push towards the implementation of the continent's free trade agreement.
