Sixth Training Workshop Maat Foundation concludes its training program for social workers and psychologists

On Saturday and Sunday 25-26 August 2012, Maat Foundation for Peace, Development and Human Rights in collaboration with the Ishraka Association for new community held its sixth workshop for social workers and psychologists in Imbaba and Bulaq Dakrur. In this workshop, Maat Foundation had concluded the training program, which included six workshops and sought to raise the capabilities of (120) of social workers and psychologists in schools, family courts and Social Affairs and the Prison Service and the civil societies in six districts of Cairo and Giza. It is noteworthy that these workshops came in the context of the implementation of project activities of integrated protection for the families of prisoners and detainees "integrate and rehabilitate" which is implemented by Maat Foundation and funded by the Swiss Foundation "Drosos". This program seeks to improve economic and social conditions for the families of prisoners and detainees through a set of interrelated activities. The workshop was attended by 25 of the target group, an increase of 25% over the target actually estimated by 20 social workers. Thus the training program as a whole achieved an increase of the actually targeted numbers by nearly 20%. It is worth mentioning that the training program of six workshops which ended the day before yesterday in Imbaba and Bulaq, had addressed several issues: "the importance of caring for prisoners and their families as a circle of social welfare, the impact of imprisoned father on the family, the role of social service in the face of conflict and provide family counseling to the families of prisoners and detainees, the mechanisms used to resolve family disputes, mechanisms of family, psychological and social counseling. The training focused mainly on the side of skills through working groups and case studies, leading to the acquisition of participants how to deal with these problems and do professional interaction and psychological and social support necessary to the families of prisoners and detainees. It is worth mentioning that social workers and psychologists who are trained will administer free social and psychological counseling units which will be inaugurated at Maat Foundation for Peace and Development and Human Rights, as well as at Ishraqa Association for new society starting from September 2012.
