Peace in the village

The Maat Center for Legal and Constitutional Studies held the second Peace Day in Cairo Governorate at the Kabanat Youth Center - Atfih - and the meeting included (73) families of prisoners and detainees, and natural families, which varied between children and adults.
The peace days came within the activities of societal peace project which carried out by the Center in cooperation with the United States Agency for Development ( USAID ), which aims to reintegrate and rehabilitate the families of prisoners and detainees in the community and to Consolidate the culture of religious tolerance and respect for the law and renounce violence .
The day started 9 am in welcoming the families of prisoners and detainees and in the presence of natural families, a psychologist, social, legal and natural leadership to solve the problems, psychological, social, legal and psychological counseling needed by the families of prisoners and detainees as well as representatives of a number of members of the Council and Board of Directors of the local youth center Alqbabat interested in social work with these families.
The day started at nine in the morning with receiving the families of prisoners and detainees and normal families and in the presence of the psychologist, social, legal and natural leaders to solve psychological and social problems and provide the legal and psychological advice needed by the families of prisoners and detainees, as well as representatives of a number of members of the local council and the board of directors of the Kababat Youth Center interested in social work With these families.
The activities varied in the peace day , as the attendants divided into two groups a group of adult and another one was for children each one had its own agenda .
The adult group began by discussing a working paper on the role of NGOs in serving the families of prisoners and detainees, as well as a working paper on the rights of prisoners and detainees and their families. This was followed by a working paper on how to control the delinquency and rebellion of children in difficult circumstances, including the imprisonment or detention of one of the parents. Discussions revolved around the concept of peace and acceptance of the other and how it could be achieved among members of society despite the different opinions and affiliations, and the social worker listened to the problems of the families.
All the members of the local council - al-Kababat - who attended the village asserted that the village needs an effort from NGOs who only hear about it as they are subjected to injustice by policemen and fabricate cases for them without guilt and failure to know any procedure from the legal survivor due to the lack of financial ability and the lack of awareness of the families Prisoners and detainees to act in these cases, and there is the problem of education and childbearing, and they emphasized the welcome of the community peace project, re-visiting another time from the Maat Center for Legal and Constitutional Studies. Certificates of appreciation were presented by the administration of the Al-Kababat Youth Center - Ateeh - to the administrative body.
The kid's group listened to "Dodo's tale" a kid's book prepared by the center to tackle the different concepts such as friendship, religious tolerance, respecting the others, and then they started drawing, playing with the toys and watching cartoons. All participants emphasized that the province of Assiut, a privacy and despite the events experienced by the people of the area, however, still adhere to their unity and embrace the audience, despite differences.
At the end of the day gifts were distributed to children and memorial pictures taken , harmony and integration, which aimed to the societal peace project .
