The project is implemented in 6 areas in Cairo and Giza governorates including: (Atfeeh, Maasra, Dar Elsalam and Basateen, Khalifa, Boulaq, and Imbaba).
The second family day was organized at Alazhar Park to benefit 61 family members from 20 families, this is the first activity to gather mothers and children in the nature in the context of a social, educational and psychological program planned for the families to increase their awareness and tighten their bonds, in response to the families requests and proposals regarding providing such activity.

The Family Days idea aims at providing three levels of social and psychological guidance to enable the family to spend quality time outside the daily routine, as well as being an entertainment component for children and mothers, along with the awareness sessions for mothers on the child rights.

The day witnessed high turnout and the program set by social workers and psychologists had good interaction from the families, especially when the day was organized in the evening to avoid the hot temperature during the day, which increased the families activeness and involvement in the program.

Due to the program accuracy, the families actively participated in the program to express their problems with the children, along with exchange of expertise between the families in the similar stories by facilitation of the educational and psychological sessions instructors.
The children also expressed themselves and their self-esteem via group games and paintings, which had a lot of interaction between the instructors and children.

The children paintings indicated their problems such as aggression and introversion, where the social workers and psychologists will design specific interventions that would be completed at the counseling unit to tackle these issues.

The most evident problems highlighted by the mothers is the children aggression and introversion, the painting and coloring session was one of the team interventions to let out the children negative power along with providing them with spaces to express themselves authentically. Individual sessions with the mothers were conducted to guide them concerning new communication tools including how to encourage their children and boost their self-esteem. The green spacious park encouraged the interaction between the families members. In the end, Maat Foundation calls the community segments to adopt the prisoners and detainees issue, along with the necessity to work together to integrate them in the community and support them to become active and productive community members.

In conclusion, Maat Foundation for Peace, Development and Human Rights invites all segments of society to adopt the cause of the children of prisoners and detainees and try to jointly work between us to integrate this group into society and bring it back to the family of a productive and productive actor.
