Increase in crime rates as the candidacy phase in the parliamentary elections continues

Attempts to commit terrorist crimes have escalated, coinciding with the continuing implementation of the timetable for holding the next parliamentary elections, and receiving applications for candidacy for the parliamentary elections, which are expected to continue until September 12, which clearly indicates the relationship between the organizations behind these events and their opposition to the political path Launched since July 3, 2013.

In this context, the Parliamentary Elections Observatory of the "Joint International - Local Mission to Monitor the Parliamentary Elections" Egypt 2014 "continued to monitor and analyze all these events and extract their implications and potential impacts on the electoral process and the democratic transition process in a way in Egypt, and issued its report No. 36 in the context of this series. ..

The report monitored 65 attempts to commit terrorist crimes, an increase of 35% compared to the number of crimes witnessed in the week before last, with a marked increase in the targeting of citizens and civil and service facilities, at a rate of 22 cases, and 34% of the total crimes that were monitored.

With regard to the distribution of the spread of terrorist operations in the provinces, the report revealed a slight increase in the number of governorates that witnessed attempts to commit terrorist crimes, to reach 9 governorates.

It is worth noting that the “Joint International - Local Mission to Follow Up the Parliamentary Elections Egypt 2015” is a coalition that includes the International Network for Rights and Development (GNRD) in Norway and the International Institute for Peace, Justice and Human Rights IIPJHR in Geneva and their local partner Maat Foundation for Peace, Development and Human Rights, in addition to 31 local organizations.
