Qatar's use of mercenaries in Libya and Syria

And its impact on the right to self-determination and their responsibility for human rights violations

Under: Item 3:  Concerning the report of the Working Group on the use of mercenaries as a means of violating human rights and impeding the exercise of the right of peoples to self-determination (Commission decisions 4/33 and 36/3)

The Maat Foundation for Peace, Development and Human Rights, which enjoys the consultative status at the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations, has continued to deteriorate the political and humanitarian conditions in Libya and Syria, after the steps of democratic transition faltered after the popular revolutions in the two countries, which made Syria and Libya fertile ground for the growth of terrorist groups and ignited the civil war in The two countries witnessed horrific human rights violations there.

During the last period there were strong indications of interference from the State of Qatar through its use of mercenaries and the formation of terrorist gangs in both Syria and Libya, and its financial, logistical, political and media support. These gangs were directly responsible for disrupting the political process and setting obstacles on the path to democratic transition and violating the right of the citizens of the two countries to Live Safe.

The activities of mercenaries supported by Qatar in both Libya and Syria contribute to deepening the division and fueling conflicts between the people of one people.
