Atfeeh Benefits from the Integration and Rehabilitation Project Services

In the framework of the implementation of the activities of the project "Integrated Protection for the Families of Prisoners and Detainees" implemented by Maat for Peace, Development and Human Rights in cooperation with the Swiss foundation Drosos in Cairo and Giza governorates, the project team headed to Atfeeh units and villages in Giza governorate with an integrated field campaign consisting of the project planned services between vocational training, social counseling, composing training groups on small projects management and educational aid distribution.
The campaign included the following:
• Launching a new training course for learning crochet in Kafr Kandeel and Alwaqaa – Albar Elgharbie, Atfeeh center for 13 women after the needs assessment for the family to support them economically through the project activities;
• The distribution of 20 educational aid represented in various school supplies including: notebooks, pens, pencil cases and pencils sharpeners from the educational needs for the families children to help them to continue their studies and to trap the drop-school phenomena spread in their community;
• Elqebabat unit 4 kilos away from Atfeeh center hosted another training course on the skills to make accessories for 11 women who are willing to learn a craft to earn their living;
• In south Atfeeh, Albarmeel unit 9 kilos away from Atfeeh center, the project staff presented educational aid for 50 students of the target families;
• As well as providing social counseling for 9 families by the social worker, along with including 25 new families of prisoners and detainees to benefit of the project services.
At the end of the first field services campaign, Maat for Peace, Development and Human Rights urges the community including governmental and non-governmental organizations to respond to the needs of the families of prisoners and detainees, along with supporting them to come back to the society as active and productive members.
At the end of the first field services campaign, Maat Foundation for Peace, Development and Human Rights urges the community, with all its civil, governmental and private divisions, to adopt the needs of the families of prisoners and detainees and extend the hand of support for them to return to society again as active and productive families.
