Ayman Akil: Israel continues to violate the rights of the Palestinians, with the support of the major powers
Hajar Abdel Monsef: The Palestinian issue is the responsibility of every Arab
The Maat Foundation for Peace, Development and Human Rights made an oral intervention before a group of Israeli ministers during the session for the presentation of the Israeli voluntary report within the sessions of the high-level political forum held at the United Nations headquarters in New York.
The intervention revealed the most prominent violations committed by the Israeli occupation army against the Palestinian people, as the occupation authorities refuse to allow the Palestinians to access basic livelihoods, especially food and water. Therefore, more than a million people in Gaza face hunger due to both the blockade and the cutting of aid. The Foundation also condemned the occupation authority’s expulsion of the international presence mission, which increases the risks that school children face at the hands of Israeli soldiers and Jewish settlers. Maat also accused the attending Israeli officials that Israeli legislation and the occupation forces expelled Palestinians from Jerusalem by demolishing homes, stripping them of residency, and refusing to grant building permits to them.
For his part, Ayman Aqil, head of the Maat Foundation for Peace, Development and Human Rights, stated that Israel continues to violate the rights of the Palestinians, striking at the top of the United Nations resolutions with the help of major countries, and that the Israeli occupation forces are practicing some kind of terrorism against Palestinian citizens amid complete silence from the international community.
Hajar Abdel-Monsef stated that the Palestinian issue was and still is the most influential issue in the Arab world, and that even with the different international events, defending the Palestinian cause is firmly in the belief and concern of the Arab civil society that the Palestinian people have the right to enjoy their basic rights and that all parties must join hands to protect all rights Palestinians, on top of them the right to development.
At the end of the intervention, Maat posed several questions to the attending Israeli ministers, revealing double standards and false promotion by Israel in order to reflect an honorable image of achieving sustainable development goals in the occupied region.
