Ayman Okeil, chairman of Maat for Peace, Development and Human Rights, deputy presiding officer of the Economic, Social and Cultural Council of the African Union, participated in the first ordinary session of the 2nd Standing Committee of the 4th General Assembly of ECOSOCC, held in Addis Ababa- Ethiopia, which came as a continuation of the activities of the African Union Summit and its work which took place this February.

 The meetings noticed the adoption of the annual plan, activities and budget for ECOSOCC. In addition to discussing the mechanisms for implementing the proposed programs and activities, taking into account the economic challenges and changes in the regional and international arenas.

During the meetings, Okeil stressed the importance of working intensively on the African Union's 2025 theme of the year on reparations for the colonial legacy, and the negative impacts it left behind, which extend until today, and cast their influence on the reality of development and human rights in the African continent.

It is worth mentioning that during the meetings, there were official visits to the headquarters of the African Union, meetings with officials, experts in international and regional bodies to enhance the strategic partnership with ECOSOCC in a sustainable manner.
