Human rights expert Ayman Aqeel's intervention during an interactive dialogue with the International Fact-Finding Mission on Libya, where he pointed out the recent arrests of journalists and peaceful demonstrators by security forces in Libya.
The latest of these arrests was that of photographer Faisal Belhaj, who was kidnapped in June.
Ayman Aqil called on the Human Rights Council to renew the fact-finding mission on Libya and provide sufficient resources to carry out its mandate.
