During the 33rd Ordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union, held under the theme of the year 2020, \u201cSilencing the Guns: Creating Conditions for Africa\u2019s Development\u201d, its most important outputs were the following:<\/p>\n

  1. President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi handed over the presidency of the Federation to South African President Cyril Ramaphosa. Provided that the conference bureau includes Kenya as a \u201cmember\u201d for the East African region, the Democratic Republic of the Congo as a \u201cmember\u201d for the West African region, and Mali as a \u201cmember\u201d for Central Africa, and Egypt will be elected for the northern region as a \u201crapporteur\u201d for the bureau.<\/li>\n
  2. Election of the Democratic Republic of the Congo as the President of the African Union for the year 2021 for the West Africa region.<\/li>\n
  3. Egypt's presidency of the African Peace and Security Council, and Egypt's indication of its willingness to host an African summit devoted to discussing the establishment of an African force to combat terrorism.<\/li>\n
  4. Approval of the activation of the AfCFTA in July 2020, provided that the headquarters of the established structure is Ghana.<\/li>\n
  5. Mentioning the empowerment of women in Africa, declaring 2020 to 2030 the decade of women's financial inclusion. And work towards achieving practical solutions such as implementing 25% grants of public procurement for women-owned companies.<\/li>\n
  6. South Africa, the President of the Union, expresses solidarity with the people of Palestine in their endeavor to establish an independent and sovereign state.<\/li>\n
  7. Ant\u00f3nio Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations, talked about the importance of involving women and youth in peace initiatives in Africa, about achieving more progress in combating poverty, about \u201caddressing the climate crisis,\u201d and the issue of \u201csilencing the weapons\u201d.<\/li>\n
  8. Winning \u201cMohamed Hilal\u201d from Egypt as a member of the African Commission for International Law, with a six-year term of office, for North Africa. And the victory of \u201cAmal Mohamed Atta Ammar,\u201d from Egypt, to be a member of the African Union Advisory Council against Corruption for a two-year term.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
