The event witnessed wide participation from a distinguished group of experts, human rights advocates, and defenders.
During the event, Ayman Okeil, the human rights expert and Chairman of Maat, emphasized the pivotal role that international and regional mechanisms play in protecting and promoting human rights. He stressed the importance of enhancing the capacities and skills of civil society workers to enable them to engage positively with these mechanisms, ensuring that the voices of marginalized groups and victims reach international forums.
Okeil highlighted the significance of communication with international mechanisms despite the challenges facing the UN system and the attempts by some countries to politicize the work of the Human Rights Council or fail to adhere to their commitments.
It is worth noting that this event was held in collaboration with the Network of the Independent Commission for Human Rights in North Africa, chaired by Mr. Naji Moulay, as part of joint efforts to enhance dialogue and build partnerships among stakeholders in the field of human rights at both regional and international levels, in implementation of the partnership agreement between the two organizations.
