Violations against Somali children

Maat Foundation for Peace, Development and Human Rights (Egypt) presents this report to monitor and analyze the situation of children's rights in the Federal Republic of Somalia, as Somalia is one of the poorest countries in the world, and it is also one of the least protective environments for children. A large part of the country has been in civil strife for more than 20 years, and according to UNICEF, countless children, as young as nine years old, have been recruited to fight in these wars. UNICEF added that this came in light of the inability of the Somali administration and local institutions to provide children with an adequate protection environment that guarantees their rights. Somali women and children have become increasingly vulnerable to all forms of violence, abuse and exploitation, most of which are practiced in a climate of total impunity.

In this report, Maat Foundation for Peace, Development and Human Rights tries to monitor and classify some of these violations against children, to guide the UN system to take the necessary measures to protect children from grave violations committed against children by the Somali government and extremist groups, and this comes in the context of Somalia's signature of the Convention on Child Protection in the sixth September 10, 2005, but it did not take effect Until now
